Here is a short video on how to make your Cowrie Shell Necklace!

Ready to start!

Cut a 60″ section of the cord and fold it in half.

Then make a regular knot about 8″ from the loop.

Now pull one end of the string through the shell and then the other side of the string through the shell as well but from the opposite direction. This will secure the Cowrie shell between the 2 strings.

You are sort of creating an X with the strings inside the shell.

Pull the shell tight to the first knot and secure it with another knot.

Now the shell is sandwiched between the 2 stings.

Repeat this with  the rest of the shells.

I used a total of 10 shells, but it depends on the size of your shells and how long you want your VSCO necklace to be. You can hold it against your neck to check the length. Make sure it leaves about 8″ on the other side as well to tie necklace with a regular bow knot around your neck.

When you have the correct length, cut both sides to equal sizes so you have 4 equally long strings. Now, just tie a knot on all 4 ends. you can even add a little bead before the knot.

And you are ready to wear your VSCO Girl Shell Necklace!

I hope you find this a fun tutorial and as easy to work with as I do. Comment below if you have any questions and show off your creations here and on Instagram #kaileacrafts
