It is almost that time of the year again – Valentine’s Day! This year, I just wanted to add a few cute Valentine’s Day decorations to our home since we just put all the Holiday decor away. This Valentine’s Day Gnome is a perfect project that can be hung in a window or from a door.
And we all know how quick Valentine’s Day just comes around the corner, so I wanted to make a Valentines craft that is quick and easy and can be done in an afternoon. Hang this cute pink crochet gnome on your door or make it into a garland with several of them.

Explanation:
For this Valentine’s Day gnome crochet pattern you start by crocheting 2 identical hat parts. Then adding the macrame cord beard, crocheting the 2 hats together and adding the crochet heart and pipe cleaner nose.
Gnome Crochet Pattern:
Start with a Magic loop with the pink yarn
Row 1: Ch2, SC in 2nd ch from hook, ch1, turn
Row 2: 3sc, ch1, turn
Row 3: 2sc, sc across, 2sc in last st, ch1, turn
Row 4: sc across, ch1, turn
Row 5-14: alternate between row 3 and 4
Row 15: sc2Tog, sc across, sc2Tog in last 2 sts, ch1, turn
Row 16: sc across, then fasten off
Make 2 hat pieces, but do not cut off for the 2nd one.
Place both hat pieces on top of each other and sc along the edge. Just 2 sc until you reach the widest part of the hat. Make the last loop big enough to fit the entire ball of yarn through and pull tight.
Adding the Macrame Beard:
Place the yarn across the hat. We will be adding the Macrame beard to this string.
Cut 15 pieces of 8″ macrame cord.
Attach them to the pink string with a larkshead knot. Fold a piece of marcame cord in half and place it under the pink string. Then pull the 2 ends through the loop to encase the pink string with the cord and pull tight.
Now fold the 2 hat pieces together again with the macrame cord hanging out from the bottom. Using the pink string, sc along the edge through both hat pieces until you reach the tip of the hat.
Once you sc into the top, ch10 (or longer if you need a longer hanger), slst to 1st ch, sc into top of hat again, sc along the edge, slst to start, fasten off leaving a long tail.
String on a needle and weave back and forth along the bottom edge to hold the string with the macrame cords inside the hat. Once you reach the other side, add 2 more sc along the open edge, slst to start and weave in the end to the bottom center of the hat to attach the nose.
Now comb out the macrame cord so it becomes a nice full beard and trim it straight at the end.
Making the gnome nose:
to make the gnome’s nose, use a red pipe cleaner and wind it onto itself so it looks like a nose. Then attach it to the gnome with the pink string sticking out from the bottom center of the hat. And finally weave in the end.
Heart Decoration for Hat:
magic ring, ch3, 3dc, 3tr into magic ring, ch1, tr into magic ring, ch1, 3tr, 3dc into magic ring, ch3, slst into magic ring, fasten off
All that is left now is to attach the heart to the side of the hat and weave in the ends.
The crochet gnome is now complete! You can make these crochet Valentines Day gnomes in several shades of red and pink and display them for your Valentine’s Day decorations around your home! You can also string them together o create a garland with some extra crochet hearts in between the gnomes.
